A Lean Consultant is employed to strip out waste and eliminate cost efficiencies. The Lean Consultant will be skilled in the application of Lean tools and philosophies such as Kaizen, SMED, 5S, Poke Yoke and apply these tools and methodologies to attain savings and waste reduction for their clients and their customer’s processes. Time and money savings add to measurable performance improvement and improved value chain. The application of Lean can be achieved with process mapping and the application of proven lean techniques. Lean can be used to achieve rapid results in the shape of running kaizen blitz events to more long lasting CI measures and approaches. The Lean Consultant is not restricted to one industry though predominantly Lean has been applied in the production and manufacturing arena’s, however in more recent times Lean thinking is moving off the shop floor and into other business areas such as finance and sales.
